State Surgeon General Ana M. Viamonte Ros, M.D., M.P.H., stopped at the
Orange County Health Department as part of her statewide tour to promote
her three P’s. The three P’s are: Prevention, Preparedness, and
Personal responsibility. During her visit, she toured the
Orange County
health department offices and the new
Southside Family Health Center
which opened this past May with the support of Orange County Government;
Central Florida Family Health Centers, Inc. (CFFHC); Community Health
Centers, Inc. (CHC); and the Primary Care Access Network (PCAN).
The
Surgeon General was treated to a first hand look at the health
department’s “Baby” program which is geared towards helping post partum
women lose weight after having a baby. She also saw first hand how
Orange County Health has partnered with community health centers to
bring primary medical and dental care to its clients, and how the
department partnered recently with the program “meals on wheels” to
bring flu shots to the front door of people in need. The Surgeon
General’s tour ended at the Orlando office for Children’s Medical
Services (CMS). |
