Dr. Viamonte Ros, Ms. Lillian Rivera, and Mr. Paul Metts met with the management team of the Health Department. Presentations focused on the variety of programmatic and administrative consortia services provided to the counties in the North Central Florida Region. The areas of fiscal, human resources, water quality testing, tuberculosis management, and HIV/AIDS care were part of the variety of programs provided.
The discussion then turned to an in depth look at the preparedness efforts of the county. Both the training and exercise structures for the county as well as the region were described along with efforts in the State, Southeastern regional states and national efforts in the Incident Command System structure, with emphasis on asset typing. Further presentations centered on the health and medical profiles completed for each county to allow for rapid response in evaluating systems post-disaster. The newly created Employee Field Manual was noted as potential for future statewide use.
The county's medical programs were then presented, with attention to the primary care relationship to the We Care volunteer medical program and the hospital relationship. The novel Hepatitis C project, a collaboration with the university of Florida and the positive results were detailed. A discussion of the "Take a Loved One to the Doctor" day program recently completed was then done.
